I see these ads all the time saying there is government money to help a woman start a business. Of course, all those ads require a person buy someone’s book and "business system". Do those grants really exist? If so, how do I go about finding them?

Bottom line, this whole bailout/assistance thing WITHOUT regulations (i.e. giving them a blank Government check to spend freely) started out with Sachs Goldman and A.I.G. back in the Fall of 2008.

We also ‘loaned’ GM & Chrysler money under the premise that they came up with a viable business plan before they received any additional money. They had lots of time to come up with this plan/proposal.

But, here in the 11th hour, they’ve proven that they have NOT taken the proper steps to show that they deserve additional Government funds. I guess they (GM & Chrysler) felt that Washington was bluffing and didn’t take this as seriously as they should’ve.

I personally think this was a great move by not giving them any extra money ‘just because’, like we have in the past.

So, why is making GM & Chrysler prove themselves viable before getting MORE Government money a bad thing?

I voted for Obama, but was a McCain fan in 2000. I feel that McCain will likely lose as (like Kerry in 2004) he has had the least success in defining the race.

IMO almost every criticism McCain has thrown out against Obama, there is an equally telling one against McCain. "Obama has worked with Terrorist Ayers" — What about McCain and G. Gordon Liddy who recommended shooting government agents?

About the only thing McCain has put out there that holds much water to me is the idea that Obama is probably making a mistake taxing small businesses that make over 0K on the basis that it will cost jobs.

I think there is some legitimacy to that, but only a little. Small businesses will adjust, either by paying their owners larger salaries or whatever. Additionally, I think that it ignores a much larger point — Obama is FDR — a pol who believes that when an economy is having a series of bank crashes that are destabilizing the economy, you have to pump government money out there to get people off unemployment and onto the tax rolls by giving them government jobs and having them rebuild the infastructure — the power grids, the roads, the trains, etc. His investments into small business loans would create a lot more jobs as well. The net result is Obama would add more jobs than he would cost the small business sector, but it is at least something that I do think could possibly legitmately hurt.

It is obvious the banks are not operating correctly, they took government money yet refuse to loan out money. So why are they even in business?

Oil companies continue to raise gasoline prices even though the cost for a barrel of oil has fallen below . It is high time the oil companies get pwned.

Do we need to Nationalize the Banks and Oil companies?

Yes, Obama has spent a great deal on stimulus loans to companies, but at least he didn’t borrow it from China. He didn’t dump billions in to a SDI system that no one said would work. He didn’t set a record of dumping money in to no-bid contracts.

It blows my mind, how Reagan is a God and Obama is just wasting government money on business loans that will hopefully get paid back and help the economy.

I’m here trolling these forums because I have seen WAY too many small business owners BEGGING for money. I work for a fairly new (9 years old) company. We are a credit card factoring company. We were the first, and we are the best, and largest. We funded more than 0,000,000 directly to small-medium sized businesses last year.
These are the problems I’ve seen small business owners face in their search for finance.<br>
Government grant- We’ve all heard of these.. Has anyone ever seen one? Didn’t think so. Heres what I hear all the time-
“They said my business was too small”. I’m thinking you have to be in with the oil crowd to receive government money. <br>

Small business loans-
I worked in the banking industry for 5 years. About 4 years too long. All I saw was headaches as far as small business loans. There are only a few banks out there. Out of those few some of them think that small business loans should start at a million dollars. They also think you should have liquid assets. ? IF

I am in need of funding for business equipment and software to start my own business from home. I have seen commercials regarding government money being out there and available for all sorts of reasons like, business start up, buying a home, renovations, debt consolidations, etc. But, these commericals are advertised by people who want a fee for the information on these grants and loans. I have always figure that if they could find this information then I should be able to also. And, I have looked on and off for awhile now and can only find information if I pay a fee to someone else. Does anyone have any suggestions or has anyone actually received one of these loans and/or grants?
